The Sure Way To Learn To Spell

without comments

The complexities that come with the English language make knowing how to spell certain words feel like an impossible task. For almost every spelling rule, there is an exception.

Example : I before e except after c or when sounded like /ā/ as in neighbor and weigh.

There are exceptions that simply do not follow this rule: receipt, receive, and conceive. These words all have a c preceding the e and i. To further complicate matters, some words do not “sound like a” and are spelled -ei: either, neither, and height.

There are few techniques that tell how to study. Spelling is best learned through memorization. The key to successful memorization is to move the short-term memory of a spelling of a word as well as the rule to the long-term memory. Students will diligently study a spelling list in order to pass the test, but will have forgotten the spellings before the test is graded.

As technology progresses, a spellchecker becomes useful tool for students and adults alike. Most word processing programs have a spellchecker that runs constantly in the background. Email servers and some browsers have also included a spell check feature to aid in an error-free document.Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

Moreover, an extension for Internet Explorer can check for spelling errors while writing on the Internet. This internet-based spell check is free for users to download. It will detect possible misspellings on web-based email, blogs, forums, etc.

Other internet spell check programs allow the user to copy and paste text into a form to detect spelling errors. There are no downloads required. There should be no fees for the use of an internet spell check.

All in all, while the technology to aid in spell checking is a useful tool, there is no one program that can catch every misspelling. There is no substitute for a little memorization. Even making a special list for just those specific words that cause the most error will substantially increase one’s knowledge and decrease the number of errors.
