Run a Spell Checker and Get a Better Grade
A college student who hands in a paper knows that the professor may not grade him on his spelling. Even if an instructor does not grade the student on his spelling, submitting any assignment where the student has not taken the time to look over his paper may cause the professor to think the student simply does not care about the class.
While it is true that a student may not care about a certain class, a wise college student knows to hide his true feelings about a class he despises. Checking your own spelling and grammar before handing in the work shows that a student cares about the quality of the work he hands in.
A professor or teacher’s assistant may not give a student a lower grade because of poor spelling and grammar, but he may start looking for things to mark wrong intentionally. Running the spell checker and grammar checker can get you a better grade.
